DESCRIPTION:You are Invited to Celebrate the Life and Art of Guyton Folk Artist John Newton\nSPRINGFIELD\, GA — Effingham Artists is proud to present a retrospective exhibition celebrating the life\, imagination\, and original artwork of the late John Newton\, a beloved Guyton folk artist known for his distinctive and whimsical mixed-media creations. \nThe John Newton Retrospective Art Exhibit will be on display September through October at Effingham Artists Studio\, 105-B North Laurel Street\, Springfield\, Georgia. \nNewton’s remarkable artwork combines acrylic paint and aluminum cans assembled to create a colorful\, imaginative world all his own. His inventive use of everyday materials\, playful subjects\, and unmistakable folk-art style make each piece a unique expression of his creativity and personality. \nARTIST RECEPTION & ART SALE\nFirst Friday October 2\, 2026 | 5:30–7:30 p.m.\nEffingham Artists Studios\n105-B North Laurel Street\, Springfield\, GA \nThe special First Friday reception will be hosted by Newton’s wife\, Jeanne Newton\, and will offer friends\, collectors\, art lovers\, and members of the community an opportunity to gather in celebration of John Newton’s life and artistic legacy. \nOriginal John Newton artwork will be available for purchase during the event\, giving guests a special opportunity to take home a one-of-a-kind work by this Guyton folk artist.
