Christmas Bird Count
December 21
Effingham County has been approved by the Audubon Society to be a participant in their annual Christmas Bird Count. This is a great event for those that like the outdoors, even when it’s chilly outside, and for people interested in learning more about birds.
The counting event will occur on December 21st all day and will encompass a perimeter around Springfield, Guyton, and Rincon (see photo). Anyone of any age and bird watching skill is welcome to join, but they must sign up with me to be an official participant. They should be prepared to walk outside on pavement and dirt roads, have snacks and water. Organizer may have some binoculars that can be borrowed for the event.
