Notice is hereby given that the City of Springfield, Georgia, will hold a Special Referendum Election on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, for the purpose of voting on the questions of whether or not the governing authority of the City of Springfield, Georgia, shall be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales by the drink; permit and regulate package sales of both malt beverages and wine on Sundays; and issue licenses for the package sale of distilled spirits within the city limits of the City of Springfield. This election shall be conducted pursuant to the Georgia Election Code O.C.G.A. § 21-2-1 et seq. and the Charter of the City of Springfield.
The ballot will read as follows:
( ) YES Shall the governing authority of the City of Springfield,
( ) NO Georgia, be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales
of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage
purposes by the drink?

( ) YES Shall the governing authority of the City of Springfield,
( ) NO Georgia be authorized to permit and regulate package sales
by retailers of both malt beverages and wine on Sundays
between the hours of 12:30 P.M. and 11:30 P.M.?

( ) YES Shall the issuance of licenses for the package sale of distilled
( ) NO spirits be approved?”

Those desiring to vote in favor of the issuance of licenses shall vote “Yes”. Those desiring to vote against the issuance of the licenses shall vote “No”.
Only those voters registered in the City of Springfield elections shall be allowed to vote in the Special Referendum Election. The last day to vote in the May 24th election is Monday April 25, 2022.
Advance voting will be held at Springfield City located at 130 S Laurel St Springfield, Georgia, on the following dates and times:
• May 2, 2022, through May 7, 2022, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
• May 9, 2022, through May 14, 2022, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
• May 16, 2022, through May 20, 2022, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm
The polls will be open on Election Day, May 24, 2022, from 7:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. The General Election will be held at the City of Springfield Council Chambers, the normal voting precinct, located at 130 South Laurel Street, Springfield, GA 31329.
