The City of Springfield formally swore in its new mayor and three city council members during it’s organizational meeting held on January 13, 2026 at City Hall.

The positions were filled without the need for an election, as four seats were available and four qualified candidates filed for office in accordance with state and local election law.
The oath of office was administered by City Attorney Ben Perkins, officially beginning the four year terms of Mayor Ricky Eilerman and City Council Members Leah Campbell, Sean Carter and returning Council Member Jenny Denney.
The newly sworn-in council members share a collective focus on serving the community and supporting the continued growth and stability of the City.
The City thanks outgoing officials Mayor Barton Alderman, Council Member Dee Moncrief and Council Member Grant Triplett for their dedication and service to the community. Their contributions have helped guide the City through important initiatives and milestones.
The City of Springfield looks ahead to continued progress under the leadership of its newly seated governing body.
