Qualifying for the municipal general election was held August 16th through the 20th, 2021.
The following candidates have qualified for office and are unopposed:
Mayor:
Barton A. Alderman, Incumbent
City Council:
Dee Moncrief
Jenny Denney
Mallory Jenkins
The above unopposed candidates shall be deemed to have voted for themselves.
The following referendums will be placed on the November 2, 2021 ballot:

( )NO Georgia, be authorized to permit and regulate Sunday sales
of distilled spirits or alcoholic beverages for beverage
purposes by the drink?
( )YES Shall the governing authority of the City of Springfield,
( )NO Georgia be authorized to permit and regulate package sales
by retailers of both malt beverages and wine on Sundays
between the hours of 12:30 P.M. and 11:30 P.M.?
( )YES Shall the issuance of licenses for the package sale of distilled

Early voting will begin on Tuesday, October 12, 2021 and will end on Friday, October 29, 2021. Voting hours are Monday – Friday from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. We will have early voting on Saturday, October 16, 2021 and Saturday, October 23, 2021 from 9:00 a m. until 5:00 p.m. at City Hall located at 130 S Laurel St, Springfield, Georgia.
To request an absentee ballot by mail contact City of Springfield at 912-754-7617. The last day to request an absentee ballot by mail is October 22, 2021.
The last day to register to vote for the municipal general election is Monday, October 4, 2021. Registration is available at the Effingham County Board of Elections Office or other locations as required by Georgia Law.
